Loss of Central Vision

When central vision is absent, images appear distorted or hazy, and peripheral vision is also affected to some degree. People with a loss of central vision have a limited ability to see fine detail and colour and have difficulty with close-up tasks such as reading, writing or recognizing faces. This condition is most often caused by macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in Canada, which primarily affects adults over 50.
