Elevators
To meet the needs of people impacted by blindness in elevator design, follow the requirements specified in Appendix E (Provisions for Persons with Disabilities) of the Canadian Standards Association’s “Safety code for elevators and escalators” document, ASME A17.1-2013/CSA B44-13. It’s available through the ShopCSA website.
Typically the design standards within that document have not been repeated within this sub-section. Design recommendations provided in the following sections are additional to the Canadian Standards Association’s requirements.
